A tribute from 3wideracing.com
  Adam Petty 1980-2000.
Adam Petty was the first of 3 fatalities in the upper levels of NASCAR in 2000. Adam Petty a bright young star planning to join his dad in the Winston-Cup Series in 2001, was killed while practing for a Busch race at New Hampshire Raceway. He was involved in single car accident, after what fellow drivers say was a stuck troutle. Adam is missed by many, and will forever be the next best Petty.

Davey Allison 1961-1993
Davey Allison was one of 2 aviation related NASCAR deaths in 1993. Davey who was making a name for himslef as son of NASCAR legend Bobby Allison, was killed in a helicopter crash at Talledega Superspeedway. Davey's best memory his said was finishing 2nd to his dad in the Daytona 500, the next year he won it. Davey had a bright future ahead of him, but it was his time, and his is missed by many.

Alan Kuwicki 1954-1993
Alan Kuwicki was the second driver to be lost in a fling accident in 1993(Davey Allison was the first). Alan a northerner, which even in those days it was unusal to a northerener in NASCAR. Kuwicki started out in 1985 when he made his first Winston-Cup start, he never knew what kinda carrer he had ahead of him. In 1992 he would win his first of what many thought would be multipule championships. To everyones superprise, Alan would be the second in just not even a month of great racers to die in a fling accident. Alan did not even get to defend his championship, his life had ended, fans were heart broken when it made the news, now they had 2 fan favorites die in similar crashes. There is no telling what Alan could have done if he had lived, you never know he might have given Gordon and Earnhardt a run for thier money.
